Logging food

Scan a label. Tap Scan Label and fit the Nutrition Facts panel in view. The numbers fill in live as the camera reads them; tap the shutter to capture. You can also choose a photo of a label from your library, or switch to typing the numbers in.

Add by hand. Tap Add Food, name it, pick the meal, and enter the serving size and the calories, protein, carbs, and fat per serving. Adjust the number of servings you had and the totals update.

Estimate a meal. Eating out with no label? Type what you ate and tap Estimate the numbers. Pretty Protein asks Apple Intelligence for a typical serving's calories and macros. Anything you've already entered is kept as-is, and the estimate fills in the rest. Give the numbers a quick check before saving.

Recipes. In Add Food, tap Made a recipe?, add each ingredient (scanned or typed), and say how many helpings it made. Pretty Protein works out the numbers for each helping and remembers the recipe for next time.

Water. Tap the quick-add buttons on the Water card on Today.

Goals

Tap the target button on Today to set your daily calories, protein, carbs, fat, and water, plus a goal weight. Pretty Protein shows how your macro goals add up in calories, and on the Weight tab it estimates when you'll reach your goal weight at your current pace.

Reminders

Tap the bell on Today to choose how much nudging you want. Meals & Macros, Water, and Weight each have three levels, and all start at I've got this, which means no reminders. Pretty Protein asks for permission to send notifications the first time you turn one on.

Reminders skip anything you've already logged that day.

Trends and history

History lists everything you've logged, day by day. Search it by dish, ingredient, or date. Trends charts your calories, macros, and water over a week, a month, or three months, with daily averages and where your calories come from.

Weight and Apple Health

On the Weight tab, tap Connect Apple Health to save the weigh-ins you log to Health and bring in readings from a smart scale or other apps. Edits and deletes you make in Pretty Protein carry over to Health. Weigh-ins that came from another app can only be changed in that app or in Health.

FAQ

The scanner can't read my label. Lay the label flat, in good light, with the Nutrition Facts filling the frame. Curved packaging and glare are the usual culprits. You can always type the numbers in instead.

Estimate the numbers is missing or greyed out. Estimates need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings, and an internet connection. Right after you turn it on, it may take a little while to get ready. Apple limits how many estimates you can make in a period of time; if you hit the limit, the app tells you when they're back. Everything else works without it.

My weigh-ins aren't showing up in Health. Open Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Pretty Protein, and make sure Weight is turned on for both reading and writing.

I'm not getting reminders. Tap the bell on Today and make sure the reminder is set to something other than I've got this. If it says notifications are off, tap Turn On in Settings, or open Settings › Notifications › Pretty Protein and allow notifications. Open the app once afterward so it can schedule them.

Can I move my log to a new phone? Your food log is stored on your iPhone and moves with it when you restore from an iCloud or computer backup, or use Quick Start. Weigh-ins synced with Apple Health also come back from Health.

Requirements

iPhone running iOS 27 or later. Meal estimates additionally require a device that supports Apple Intelligence and an internet connection.
